Members singlespin Posted December 3, 2015 Members Posted December 3, 2015 Does anyone know how swepco is fishing? I have not been there since it took a downward trend. I was thinking about going and did not want to waste a trip. I can't find any recent reports anywhere
Quillback Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I haven't been over there this year, but it usually fished well about now. Always seems to be better if the plant is generating. I haven't heard of it being in a downward trend, just curious as to what you've heard.
Members singlespin Posted December 4, 2015 Author Members Posted December 4, 2015 5 or 6 years ago you could sit in one spot and catch a 100 a day but they were starved, throwing up used plastics when we were reeling them in. We went a couple of years ago and it was normal fishing, is what I meant by downward trend
hoglaw Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Not a big fan of SWEPCO. It's close to the house so I hit it two or three times last year on weekdays. It fished fine for me on those trips. Certainly didn't sit in one spot and catch 100, but caught enough to beat sitting at the house. I think it would be cool if they'd make it electric only, or put a horsepower restriction or something on it. It's just crazy to me that folks will line up to fish it the way they do. I'm sure a lot of the folks that fish it just don't care for the cold water fishing on the normal lakes, but to me if I'm "big lake" fishing, I'd much rather fish the cold water patterns than spawning patterns. The fish I was catching last year were not starving. They weren't big and fat, but they appeared to be more or less normal and healthy. I had a lot of success on good quality fish by downsizing and finesse fishing deeper water while most folks appeared to be beating the banks with big baits, or jockeying for position at the discharge. jtram 1
jtram Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I agree. I have only fished it once, but there is no reason to be allowing big boats on that small of a lake IMO Amery 1
Moswimb8slinger Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 It's been good to me recently. Even won a kayak big bass tournament last weekend on it with a 5.5lbs, 20.75 LM.
Guest Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Good to hear its still got a few good sized fish in there. I've fished the discharge a handful of times, points & pockets always produced better for me. Finesse is the name of the game.
Moswimb8slinger Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Almost won Big bass at the Razoryak, March 6, except my photo was disqualified due to a hook in the way from my 8" line-thru swimbait. All of the fish I've caught from there were on swimbaits. No finesse.lol
