Plastic_worm Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 Thx, haven't fished reds in TX yet but I really want to. I hear you can wade fish the reds. That would be cool. In some areas I'm sure you could, but in some areas it that same gumbo mud that LA has. Are you able to find solid gound to get off the yak from time to time and stretch your legs/ back? How bad were the mosquitoes / gnats / biting flies when the wind wasn't blowin? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Plastic_worm Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 All the insects were out. Gnats/mosquitoes were out in force w/ no wind. But the VS amber romance helps with the gnats. That's the main reason for the buffed out ninja in most pics. I do frequently get out on the islands. They are firm enough to walk but that also means stirring up the insects. On a side note, I saw a ton of raccoons this trip. More than ever before and they were miles out in the marsh. Ham Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Back in the day, guys would slather on the Avon Skin So Soft. You smelled awful, but the gnats would die in the greasy film and the mosquitoes and biting flies hated it. The coons must do ok down there, but it seems like a tough world to live in. gotmuddy Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 They would have to travel quite a ways to get fresh water I would think. I have wade fished around matagorda when I was younger. lots of guys in TX only wade fish. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
