M_Taylor Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Hello guys, I'm not on this forum a bunch as I fish Beaver lake mostly. But, tis the season to see the in-laws for the weekend and therefore I'm going to pull the Ranger up there. I'll be staying near Linn Creek MM29 but can trailer anywhere within reason. Only fished LOZ one other time out of my boat and that was all done in the LOZ state park area. Looking for any general tips on bass fishing LOZ this time of year and with what the experience has been lately for those who have been out. I'll be happy to report how I do, assuming the rain isn't too bad to go. I appreciate any direction ya'll can provide.
fishinwrench Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I only work 2 basic patterns this time of the year, on any given day there are fish either milling about on steeper rocky banks eating crawdads or 20-30' off the banks/points eating shad. So basically Jigs, Jerkbait, A-rig. Since you're close to Linn cr. you might as well fish around there. No other area of the lake is any better really.
WeekendWarrior Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Haven't been out in a couple weeks but was doing good with the a-rig, would start in very back of big coves and hit secondaries on out to main lake till you find them. Ameren pulling a bunch of water which has main lake dirty or at least it was. If water is dirty I would try a crankbait vs. a-rig.
M_Taylor Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 Thank you both! I have my jerkbait and crank stuff ready to go. I'm not the best at a jig, but have them. I need to learn the A rig better too. Any suggestions on where to start there? There's a few too many options to choose from!
MOsmallies Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Sounds like some nice fish were caught on a Wiggle Wart last weekend. I'd be throwing the A-Rig, Jerkbait, Wiggle Wart, and a Jig. Good luck! I wish I was down there!!

Since you are right there, start in very back of Linn Creek and work your way out. I think the backs or towards backs may be a little cleaner water than towards main lake right now with all the water they are pulling
96 CHAMP Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 information can't get much better than that, Merry Christmas to all OAF members,.
M_Taylor Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. I don't own an A rig nor an adequate rod and reel for it. Looks like I'll be going to Cabelas tomorrow to get one! I hope to have good news to report this weekend.
M_Taylor Posted December 25, 2015 Author Posted December 25, 2015 Well so far, not so good. Fished quite a bit yesterday in Linn Creek and didn't do well at all. I'm sure most of it is me, but I do wonder if the bite is slow for others too? I threw the a-rig, a jig, and crankbaits. Water temp was 48. Water was definitely muddy.
WeekendWarrior Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 If it is muddy from backs to main lake you may have to put in at PB2 and fish glaize or at Shawnee bend access at 10 mm. Had a buddy fish yesterday and had 4 keepers with one over 5 and lost another good one fishing gravois area throwing rig when it was windy and a jig in slack water.
