I always thought one of the Wart's greatest moves was that it would back up off a snag when you gave it slack.  I'd be afraid that adding any weight would alter that....unless maybe if the added weight was on the underside of the lip directly under the line tie.

And yeah, Oldplug I didn't care for the suspending Warts either.  Guess it depends on how/where you are fishing them.  A wart is a niche bait for me, only fish it banging along bottom from the bank out to 5-6'.
