Who is willing to admit they are fishing this year's Polar Bear?

I was flipping bushes in 3'-4' of water in Rocky Branch. Only caught one keeper - and he was the epitome of a squeaker... I probably turned him over three or four times on the board to make sure his tail barely swept the 15" mark.

As I was telling Champ, I let that bass go around 1:30 to male sure I made it home in time for the Hogs in the Liberty Bowl; that turns out to be today anyways hahaha!! Still was a great time as always to start the new year on the lake.

I know the guys well who won it. J.R. Beehler (who now lives in Wichita) and Ricky Searcy who owns Bella Vista Marine. They had 14 pounds and change. Don't know how or where they won it and if you asked them they wouldn't tell you anyway. At least one 11-pound bag was caught flipping bushes, but I doubt that's how J.R. fished. That's just not his usual game.

As for debris, my partner and I traveled from PC to the dam and the back of Indian Creek and back and only came across half a dozen significant pieces of debris. Mudline was around the mouth of Rambo. For the most part, it's pretty safe out there. At least in the lower half of the lake. May be a different story above the bridge but right now, I doubt anyone can even get under the bridge.

No way I'd go above the bridge for several days till the current draw slows down. Even then with the rain coming, they will have to kick it back on and everything could repeat again.

What a crazy year!!

I guessed 15-10lbs for the win. I missed a little.  Top 10 did a fantastic job catching fish in super crazy conditions. I say crazy because, super high water in winter, big changes to the lake over last week, and temps dropped down several degrees in a week.  And it's Beaver.  ;-)

I stay out of the dam end.  We don't get along up there. ;-)  Those that can master it, I tip my hat.  I like a little stain myself.

Glad no one had any serious issues.  That's great!

If I go tomorrow, what should I expect? Stained water area?

or should I work on the honey do list? Lol

My team partner fished and they finished in 8th, said the bite was good all day, if they would have executed in the last hour they would have moved up more but that's fishing.  Didn't hear what they were doing, but I would guess they threw spinnerbaits.

Yesterday was pretty decent considering the given conditions.

Today.......completely different. I went again because I had found both bait and some good striper marks yesterday afternoon.  Today......the cove full of bait that blacked out my graph had dispersed and the stripers were nowhere to be found.  Moved to different location, dropped bait, saw good marks, watched my bait get a bit nervou and nothing.  Wind died down and it was a ghost town.  I was the last person to leave Prairie Creek and the water was flat calm.  Not even a ripple on the water.

Something caused the water to become dirtier than yesterday and the fish had moved out in masses.  Even though I was not bass fishing, I did not see much activity on the HDS10 on the banks or offshore.

So......unless you have cabin fever, I'd say try another day when things stabilize a bit more.   I don't think I'm going back again for at least a few weeks with more rain in the forcast.

I'm about to launch at PC, it's not too cold, but there's not a cloud in the sky & a little bit of a breeze blowing. I don't have any expectations today. Gonna spend a lotta time looking.
