Hi Guys,

I am in a bass club in Columbia, MO and we are planning on having a two day tournament at the Rock in mid March.  In the past we have stayed in Baxter, but we are looking for somewhere new.  I expect that we will have about 15 boats.  We would prefer someplace centrally located since most of the guys are used to fishing out of Baxter...so someplace way up the river or around the dam wouldn't be as appealing.  As always, cost is a factor and we would like to keep it reasonable.  Other considerations are proximity to ramps, parking for up to 15 rigs, and someplace where we can have a group BBQ or fish fry in the evening.  Any suggestions on place for us to look into would be greatly appreciated!

Hope everyone is weathering the flood conditions safely.

Chad, I would definitely look into Harpers Valley Resort in Kimberling City. They are located in the back of Fisher Creek and have their own concrete ramp with plenty of parking, plus reasonable rates, lots of room for your BBQ or fish fry (hopefully not bass), covered dock, etc.

LOL, figured as much CadeWompus but we've been surprised on here before. Recently ran across a Facebook page for the oldest bass club in Missouri (Missouri Jig and Eelers founded in 1962) that still kills and eats fish. Sad.

Hope Harpers Valley works out for you. Please tell Nancy or Basil (the owners) that James/Donna from Arkansas sent you.

Sure thing Champ.  I am also looking at Cedarwood Resort.  It looks like it is located right next to Harpers Valley.  Any knowledge of it?

I've never stayed there but I do know it is next door and I think they have a pretty good reputation, too. We got to know Nancy/Basil back when we were fishing Central Pro-Am and have never stayed elsewhere since.

If those don't work out Schooner Creek Resort is right across the highway. They have a very club friendly layout, good boat parking by rooms, and a ramp that can be used well up to 930+. That last bit might be a real key this spring.

Ramp meaning a nice flat gravel approach to the actual ramp that can be used at that level. Just to clarify. I dropped my 21' Ranger in there in 2008, 2011, and other various high water moments.

Another option that's in the mix in the Kimberling City area is the Kimberling Oaks Resort. I've stayed there before and enjoyed it. The new owners, they've had it for a year or so now, told me they want to cater to fisherman and want that to get out there because apparently the old owners weren't so keen on it. Really nice family that owns it and has a ramp for your use as well.
