Stump bumper Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I saw where Active, Guard and Reserve can get free tags. Has anyone here tried a retired Military ID ? After all we are still in the Reserves. I am talking about Regular full time retired not gray area Reserve retirement, not that many people will know the difference unless it applies.
MOPanfisher Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I believe the military pass is for active duty and their dependents only.
zarraspook Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Retired need to be 62+(Senior Pass) -- https://store.usgs.gov/pass/senior.html or have a disability (Access Pass).. Who qualifies for the Access Pass? The Access Pass may be issued to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of any age that have been medically determined to have a permanent disability that severely limits one or more major life activities. A permanent disability is a permanent physical, mental, or sensory impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, such as caring for oneself, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, and working. If you have ANY disability rating from the VA -- you qualify for the Access Pass... zarraspook Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 I just got off the phone with Brea ( Corps at Stockton Lake ) and.... If you have an older "GOLDEN ACCESS PASSPORT" it now covers ramp fees at ALL CORPS lakes... You will need to get a clear holder to put the pass in and hang it from your windshield .... MOPanfisher Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Yes the Golden Age and IAB Senior passes are for all intents the same thing. The Golden Access and IAB Access pass are essentially the same. The are a lot of differences but to the public they are interchangeable. Yes you will need the plastic placard with which to display the pass, unfortunately those have not been shipped out yet. The 2016 Annual Passes are in KC and should be distributed this week as they are from a different source. I am currently trying a different computer to see if I can upload the brochure/info.
Members Ranger Dave Posted January 20, 2016 Members Posted January 20, 2016 Don't forget that with the old Golden Age Passport or the America the Beautiful Senior Pass you can purchase the $40 Annual Use Permit for only $20 (half price). The $10 increase from $30 to $40 only increases the permit by $5 when using one of the Senior passes.
MOPanfisher Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Not correct here is no longer a 50 percent discount for annual passes. The reason is that with display of the Golden Age or America the Beautiful Senior Pass you don't have to pay any day use fee. Same for the golden accede and America the beautiful access passport. There will be some plastic hang placards to display the goldenage/access pass like an annual pass.

Where are you finding this information? I looked on www.nps.gov/findapark/passes.htm and it still says May provide a 50 percent discount on some amenity fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launching, and specialized interpretive services. In the FAQ section it stated: Does the Senior Pass include any discounts at Federal Recreation sites? At many sites the Senior Pass provides the pass owner a discount on Expanded Amenity Fees (such as camping, swimming, boat launching, and guided tours).
MOPanfisher Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I work for the COE albeit at a different lake. If you look back through the posts and you will see the info . The Golden age/access and ATB senior/access passports provide free boat launch and swim beach usage at COE managed areas when displayed. They will also still give the 50 % discount on camping but since they get free day use there is no longer a 50% discount on the Annual Pass sticker. There is also an active duty military pass and a volunteer pass. I tried several times to post the info but my phone is smarter than I and my work computer would block it. Give me an email and I will email the new program info to you.
