Notropis Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Some good information on this thread regarding the COE's flood control plan and their reasoning behind it. Another factor is power generation within the White River Lakes. Since Beaver is the highest power generation lake on the chain, they hold the water as much as possible to store the potential energy of the higher elevation water. Water over the floodgates is wasted in regards to generating electricity. Water stored in Beaver can produce hydroelectric power several times as it makes it's way down the White River Lakes and the dams that impound them. Champ188 and Stump bumper 2
Stump bumper Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 That is why opening flood gates by not planning ahead upsets me so much. We end up burning coal and natural gas because there is no planning. I see wind farms in so many states now that Arkansas fights like drug use so the only natural energy production the state has is hydroelectric and we don't know how to plan out it's use. Champ188 1
