Members Tyler Martin Posted January 24, 2016 Members Posted January 24, 2016 I'm looking to buy a new low end fish finder. Not looking for anything fancy, just something to put on a little jon boat. Anybody have any experience with the low end lowrance models such as the hook 4x? Or the humminbird 197c di?
dwiebenga Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I have a low end lowrance that I would love to sell. It is black and white, but I was able to drop shot off of it before I could afford a color monitor. Let me know. Dave
176champion Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I have a hummingbird piranha 155 on the bow of my boat, paid 65 bucks for it at Walmart it works for what it is...gives water temps, shows fish and bottom structure somewhat and of coarse depth...the 197 DI would be way better than what i got...on the console i have a Lowrance Mark 4HDI gps unit i paid 125 bucks for from BPS.Seems to work ok has down scan and such, gps works good i still havent figured it all out yet...lol I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Members Have fish will travel Posted January 24, 2016 Members Posted January 24, 2016 I have like new elite-5x for sale. Only had it on the boat for a couple of trips, then upgraded to one that had gps. The sonar and down imaging is very clear and it has a color screen. I really liked how well it worked but decided I needed GPS more. Will sell for $200 obo. merc1997 Bo 1
Moswimb8slinger Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Both models you named are very popular amongst kayak anglers. Both are good brands. It seems split 50/50 amongst boaters and guides around here between Hummingbird and Lowrance.
Fish24/7 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 got a Lowrance X 4 pro, runs off 10 AA rechargeable batteries no complaints
Old plug Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 go to your local wallmart you can find them under $100. They will tell you everything youbbeed to know. Except side scanning.
