Members Saltydog01 Posted March 10, 2016 Members Posted March 10, 2016 My college buddy and I are visiting Pomme this weekend Mar 12th thru 15th with our families. We will be fishing the south end of the Pomme arm by boat. Are any fish biting? If so which ones and what are good techniques? Just want to catch fish don't care what. Crappie, bass anything. Thanks
MOPanfisher Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Haven't heard a lot on bass fishing. Crappie were decent on the upper ends, laydowns near the channel, but last night with the river coming up it wasn't as sweet. If river settles down and isn't too muddy, it was warmer there than the main lake. We did catch a bunch of little bass last weekend up the river, LM, SM and K's, nothing large. There were a lot of little white bass as well with a few larger ones mixed in, but with the rain and river up slightly they may well have moved on up the rivers. Don't be afraid to find some brush piles in the 20-25' range and work them slowly with a jig, likely would pick up some crappie if wind does get too bad. Sorry that is all I can provide.
Ranger520vx Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Have been catching some bass this week visibility has only been about 1 foot. Mid lake water temps have been about 50 and mid 50s up around Bolivar Landing. Have been catching them on Lucky Craft Pointers in about 6 feet of water on chunk rock banks and around laydowns and stumps on jigs. Haven't caught a short fish this week they have all ranged from 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 lbs. nothing real big but been fun.
Ranger520vx Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 By the way if you see a red and yellow Ranger when you're out fishing stop and say hi I will probably be up around the Bolivar Landing area Monday and Tuesday not sure if I will be out this weekend or not depends on the weather. But good luck to you and hope you catch some.
Members Saltydog01 Posted March 11, 2016 Author Members Posted March 11, 2016 Thanks for the tips guys. I hope to find some bass for me and crappie for the kids. Codywskeeter1521 1
Members VJMAC Posted March 11, 2016 Members Posted March 11, 2016 Same as above. Caught 30+ bass 12" to 19" up in river. Pitchin to any stump and laydown. Small 5/16 jigs. Lite bite. Didnt want any larger baits. For me at least. Crappie are staging in and around spawning areas. Caught a good mess yesterday before dark. All in 8' to 4' depth. Pic of graph was typical of most areas. Lite bite on the crappie too. Good luck. Will be busy weekend
Members Saltydog01 Posted March 11, 2016 Author Members Posted March 11, 2016 Excellent news VJMAC. I can't wait to get on the water. What were the crappie biting on? I'll be in a bass buggy pontoon with a maroon top. Stop by and say hi if you guys see me as well.
luckycraft Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Man that water looks stained... What was the visibility?
Members VJMAC Posted March 12, 2016 Members Posted March 12, 2016 About 6" visibility around Bolivar Landing. Black and Chartruese tubes.
