fishinwrench Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 A buddy and I fished Friday in that miserable cold drizzle. We started off doing pretty well but as the day went on the bite just flat went to hell. Over beers that evening I made the comment that the boys fishing OMTT were gonna have it tough, and I predicted that 18# would win and that the weights would fall drastically from there. Could I have been more wrong ? Crazy weights!
WeekendWarrior Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 If the weather kept trending like it was we would have seen spawning in March like we did a few years back. Fishing should be good next 2 days if you can hold the boat. Found some crappie on the bank a couple days back and checked it yesterday evening and water temps had dropped 5 degrees and they were gone. I will have to check them tomorrow to see if they moved back up.
Members C Beach Posted March 22, 2016 Members Posted March 22, 2016 Gotta be tough out there in that wind today, but has to be warming things up. Be interested to know how anyone does out there today. More of the same forecast for tomorrow, on the fence about burning a day off to try it tomorrow...pretty sure my fair weather boat partner (wife) would be less than thrilled about the "breezy" conditions.
DChance Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Had a buddy say the wind was brutal but they caught fish. Nice ones too.
WeekendWarrior Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 Well the wind and fishing were brutal on me today, only 1 keeper bass with about 7 shorts and 4 keeper crappie. Wind was whipping 2 foot rollers in places
Members C Beach Posted March 23, 2016 Members Posted March 23, 2016 Heading to Gale in the AM to give it a go. Hopefully we can get some action. My buddy and will be in a white P2, say hi if you see us.
Members C Beach Posted March 24, 2016 Members Posted March 24, 2016 Fished Niangua / Little Niangua area from 10-330. So nice being out mid week, very few others out. Wind not as bad as had feared. 4 shorts on Spinnerbaits, 3 shorts on blk/Blu Jig along with 2 barely keeps and one solid 3lber. Got all the jig fish late, wished I would have applied myself more with the jig earlier, they were liking it. Mid way back in coves on ramps or wood in 4 fow or less.
m&m Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 C Beach, thanks for the report. If I might ask, what water temp did you find? Mike
Members C Beach Posted March 24, 2016 Members Posted March 24, 2016 Knew I left something out - temp was 55-56ish.
