CoolHandFluke Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 New to this site. This is such a great place for information! A buddy and I fished The sac river Thursday. I think we may have been a day late. storms had them shut down. Did catch a couple of white bass and had several good bites. Fished a white grub and some spinners and lipless cranks. Any other advice for catching fish up the rivers this time of year?
slab slinger Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Wait a couple weeks and you won't need any advice other than how to keep a knife sharp....haha....The whites are not up in huge numbers yet but it's gonna happen if it stays warm. Anywhere between 215 HWY and Orleans will be good fishing and about any small lure will work during the peak spawning. Hang in there it's going to get good. crappie-hunter and CoolHandFluke 2
dprice Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Cool hand Any where flat But with at least 3 foot deeper on it is a fine place to load the boat with whites right now Get your topo map out and look for these And keep rotating them waterpossum and CoolHandFluke 2 Dprice priceheatingair.com
Dkman Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 On Friday I ended up going up Turnback about a mile and half and drifted back down. Only caught one white. Wind was brutal in a canoe. Did end up catching several decent sized largemouth though. Still a better day than working. Thanks again for the input. plan on going back up next week to try the crappie.
MOPanfisher Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 If the wind is blowing also look for a cove or "trap" that is open to the wind, it will pile the warmer water off the top and shad into or against it. Whites will follow and at times it can look like a school of piranha, and you never know what else might be following the shad, crappie or wallys sometimes. Hard to have more fun than a school of nice sized whites with a school of shad trapped, unless you go to truman and get the occasional wiper mixed in, on a crappie rod.
