bkbying89 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I have received notice that the new rod will be here tomorrow and will cast it as soon as I can. I see the practicality of the shorter rod on streams where casting room is limited and I admit that I love the small streams. I keep thinking about that Mojo Bass in 7 Weight. I do have a 6/7 weight 8 footer, but my handle broke last week and I am not sure it is worth fixing.
Members Daniel Clayton Posted May 10, 2016 Members Posted May 10, 2016 Fished a small section of MF Sunday evening off of F. Caught one small mouth (little), noticed it had some red worms in its mouth, you noticed anything like that in the ones you been catching? Smallieguy87 1

Sounds like maybe a round worm infection. That's pretty common but you don't usually see them in the mouth. On the other hand it could be the little guys meal too.

Upon further research it does appear to be a type of roundworm which doesnt seem to pose any issue to the fish or being consumed. In fact it was my fish small mouth ever as we didnt have a lot of those in the water I fished in South AR. Smallieguy87 1

Members 6wtguy Posted July 2, 2016 Members Posted July 2, 2016 Fished upstream from the Kingston access today. Caught several decent smallies stripping streamers as it started to rain. Short lived day but worth the drive.

I don't fish any of the streams without someone with me . I'd ran into a couple unsavory fellows while wading mineral fork near the old rivermont grounds. They were a long the banks in some brush and when they saw me and stepped out they didn't have a bit of fishing gear with them. I guess that coupled with all the white power neck tattoos told me they weren't good people lol I could tell they didn't want me there and were eyeballing me hard so i just nonchalantly shifted my fishing pack so they could see i was armed and that's about all it took. I just left and went home after the incident. Not sure what they were doing...maybe i interrupted a date or something. New guy here! It is a shame the destruction that the meth problem has created. I have fished the Mineral since 1967. got some access from the f bridge the other day and caught a few and threw them back. The landowners are real touchy about the meth heads and won't give access to just anyone. They have large property and equipment to protect. They told me they found a dead junky under the F bridge awhile back with needles everywhere, He had been sleeping there for weeks. I have always been armed down there even in the sixties, mostly for snakes. That river is part of my life and I miss the quiet beauty. Floated from F to 47 many of times.

I believe they tow your vehicle on F hwy bridge now. Last time i was i checked they have signs posted about parking and river access. Anymore, unless you know someone who has property on Mineral Fork your only access would be kingston off dugout rd. I haven't got to fish any stretch of it much this year. I'm hoping to change that soon. If you're ever down that way shoot me a message on here i'd be happy to join you.
