nomolites Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Wife was spring cleaning Saturday morning which gave me the opportunity to vacate the house and fish. Arrived Saturday late morning and got on the water after noon, fished from 1-7pm. WT 66 and I was surprised to see the late had really cleared up as well as risen over a foot from the rain Friday night. First two spots I tried were spawning banks that always produce - zilch. Looked around some for walleye - zilch. Could see a few fish suspended in the basins that looked like crappie but it was pretty thin compared to normal but after prospecting a little bit I finally decided to pull cranks and see what size they were. After hauling water for some time and getting blown around I finally found a presentation that was acceptable and picked up 9 females between 12 and 15" as well as the usual blue catfishes drum assortment. Caught all fish on #7 Flicker shad in Uncle Rico or Purple Flash in 20', they would not touch anything else I put out there. NO males, and only ONE of these girls had spawned. Later in the afternoon I could see the bank fisherman starting to connect on males as the sun dipped and banks saw shade but I didn't see any slabs going aboard. Fished Sunday morning from 8-1030 and picked up 9 more big females although the largest was only 14" - NONE of these fish had spawned. Did not catch fish like I normally do and did not catch them on my typical baits. - this year is a bit off and I have not been on the water enough to have them dialed in. Beautiful weather, better than spring cleaning! Mike marcus 1
rangerman Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I was down last week Mike with the boy, we went up little niangua, had two limits and 2 eyes, one 21.5 and another 19. All trolling out in 25 foot of water suspended 15 foot. All crappie were packed with eggs, walleye were spawned out but had bellies full of shad. All crappie were 11-13 inches. Very fun trip. Flicker shads any color at 1.8mph Now on to sturgeon bay this weekend ?. MOsmallies, nomolites and marcus 3
Old plug Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 NOMOLITES----if I can get myself in shape enough I will be trolling the north shore this summer during the week with down trollers, I used to own a house in lick branch cove so I am pretty familiar with the area.
