Hammer time Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Put in at Mutton at 10:30 and concentrated on spawning pockets and secondary points. Strong south wind so started with crankbait but with all the rock snot hard to to bang bottom without getting slimmed. Caught 8 with 4 keeps but got tired of constantly fighting the snot. Switched to c-rig lizard and caught bunches but mostly bucks and post spawn females. Went dam area and found 67 degree water and changed to jig and caught some quality blacks, 4 nice chunks and several shorts. Had 2 nice eyes over 19 inches both on c- rig lizard in umberland. Tight lines and CPR zarraspook, Kramr, Unimog and 2 others 5
Kramr Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Nice report though not sure what "umberland" means. Lots of people seem to be catching walleye while bass fishing. Hope that means that trying to catch walleye will be even more productive.

Smithvillesteve Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Thanks for the report. I posted on here about 2 weeks ago about the green slime. I fished the main lake area and Mutton Creek area 2 days last week and I also had to deal with a lot of the green slime. Couldnt throw a crankbait shallow. Jig fishing was difficult also. I finally concentrated my efforts in 15 fow or more! Is this a common thing at Stockton this time of year? I dont remember dealing with this in past years.
Hammer time Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 I agree, don't remember this slime for long time.
MOPanfisher Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I have noticed a LOT of floating planktonic green algae on Pomme here lately. Some days it makes green streaks in the water as the wind moves it. Also along some of the shorelines a layer of gritty brown stuff (most likely pollen and oak catkins etc), and the layer of green puffy algae, that completely disintegrates if you disturb it. Lots of things I suspect play into it, fairly clear water lets the sunlight penetrate better, plenty of oganics washed in with the high water in December, about the right time for the spring mixus or turnover, which usually sends a lot of floating green stuff through the water column before it stratifies again. I do remember while fishing Stockton back in March/April picking up a lot of "green slime" if you let your jig or lure bounce on the rocks.
dprice Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 With all the high wind this year a lot of debris and bark and leaves have filled the shallow water as well as runoff areas into lake we fished a area last week that still had a lot of water tuning out of a hill side that area was flushed and algae free? i think you are defined tu onto something here bassfisher 1 Dprice priceheatingair.com
