Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 3, 2007 Root Admin Share Posted March 3, 2007 You may have noticed the gob of colorful swimming minnow ad at the top of the forum. Well, my shopping cart has been a real pain to get up- not sure when it will be ready to go live. Was afraid I'd miss the crappie/white bass season altogether without offering swimming minnows, thus the banner ad. I only have a few colors in stock right now but will have more in Tuesday- about 20 more. These baits have been hard to find for a lot of people- that's the reason I'm posting them here. Ham
I've used a version of that bait before put out by Bobby Garland. It was really good for White Bass. It is a little larger than most of what I fish for crappies. That's a great price and good colors too. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Jason Essary
I use sw. minns on TR a lot. crappie and whites mostly, and purple is my alltime best color. The only time its got beat is in stained water, where bone and char. normally work better.. taxidermist
Those look like a lure we use called the Ozark Crappie minnow. They work well. we like motor oil with red or copper flecks my brother swear by them. I like crystal with silver flecks in the creeks.
crappiefisherman
I think its hard to beat the good ole white swimming minnow.Last year I made it a point to fish one color and it worked out very well.If you keep using one color, all you have is the presentation skills to catch fish.Keep it simple and you will catch more. Ham
I find crappie to be more particular about color than bass are. I agree in principle with you less colors can be a good thing. HOWEVER, if you are in an area that you know holds fish and you try your proven presentations, a color change is in order if you can't get bit. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. crappiefisherman
Im sure its a personal preferance, or maybe a silly thing to do just to see if fish will bite something.I like the white because it is closer to the color of the young shad and minnows. If I was to use a second color ir would be the gray.I never have understood why crappie bite yellow jigs, or pink, I have never seen a bait fish that color before.I do have those in my box also, so dont think I just carry a sandwich bag of lures with me.But I need to tell you, I have three kids and a lovely wife that doesnt understand sometimes why I spend so much money on my fishing adventures [ [
