Rob P Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Tough bite, Friday it was 80 degrees, Saturday 53 maybe.. Little blustery, Saturday I think we saw about 4-5 boats all day. We also saw a 3-5 degree water temp drop in a day. Smaller cranks caught us some smaller bass, topwater turned on at 7;15 and shut off about 7:45. Right at sunset when you think its perfect conditions, we couldn't get a bite. Tried trolling had trouble marking schools of baitfish and we didn't get a bump. Bouncing Jigs down steep walls in the shade was probably my best locale for fish. Other than bass, I caught some of the biggest gills ever on a jig. Its cool to see a 5" grub trying to be swallowed by a bluegill.. Back in coves it gets very quiet. At one time I did overhear 2 guys talking in their boat saying there are no fish in this lake. Oh there are plenty of fish, we just run out of time figuring out the pattern.. Fish24/7 1
mojorig Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Saturday, the topwater bite started at sunrise and ended about 9 for us. We also caught a few on a jerkbait and a few flipping bushes. The wind was not our friend on Saturday. Jeremy Risley District Fisheries Supervisor AGFC Mountain Home Office - 1-877-425-7577 Email: Jeremy.Risley@agfc.ar.gov
