ollie Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 First things first. Water level was fairly low for this time of the year and we had to get out a couple of times to drag over. Fishing was slow in the morning but turned on before noon. Either that or we just didn't find them earlier. Found some smallies on beds, but didn't throw to them. It almost appeared to me that some of the smallies were done spawning and some weren't. Or maybe all the beds we saw empty had been taken off their beds by other so called fisherman. We ended up throwing a wide assortment of lures before sticking with just a plain power grub in green. Nothing huge caught yesterday, but we had the numbers so it kept things interesting. Oh yea, we floated the upper end to the low water bridge. The road to Noel is closed on 59, but the only part that is closed is from Ginger Blue to Mt. Shira. So if you want to park at Shira you have to go around the long way through Noel and back on H hwy. We chose to pay $10 to park at Eagle's Nest. We saw plenty largemouth that would go over 20" easy throughout the day. I'm thinking of giving it a couple more weeks or so and by then it should be on fire! Buzz, BilletHead and jtram 3 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
