Is it the slow trolling variety using spider rigs or trolling behing the boat using crank baits? We trolling crankbaits and jigs at precise speed, depth and distance. Zarraspook has it down to a science.
Kramr Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Thanks. Guess I'll have to get the book on trolling mentioned in the article linked to this discussion.

Mark Romanack no longer sells the book form of Precision Trolling. If you find it on ebay they want many hundreds of dollars for it. I have a version but intend to keep it. On the plus side, for 99 dollars you can buy Precision Trolling as an app for your smart phone. I have that as well. While it does not include all the lures that were in the print format, it does have the major ones, including some that have come out since the book went out of print. Examples would be the Flicker Shad and Flicker Minnow, in all three sizes. Good luck. blacknoseddace 1
Kramr Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Downloaded the app. Comes with the flicker shad # 7 pre-loaded. Guess that's to give you a taste and get you hooked. Not sure I would get the life time for $ 109 but will probably buy a couple of the individual lures for $1.99. He doesn't talk about it but does using a sinking line such as fluorocarbon make a difference or is it a non-factor?
nomolites Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I have the book as well although I reference it less than nearly on - it( and tips from rps and others that precision troll) has increased my take home exponentially. I was out early(sort of, 0730-0930) before it got absolutely ridiculous this morning on LOZ and picked these up contour trolling #7 flicker minnows at 22ft. Had the usual undesirables as well(bass, drum, channel and blue catfish) with the walleye 20.5" and biggest crappie 13.5". Mike rps 1

As Mark mentions in the video posted by blacknosedace, the key factor is the diameter of the line. That is the reason that 10/4 braid that floats will take a bait deeper than 10# mono. To avoid using a linecounter reel (they suck unless you buy the many hundreds of dollars Shimano) I use the 10 test/2 pound diameter Power Pro Depth Hunter. I get an extra foot or two as a bonus. Try this link as an example: http://www.sears.com/power-pro-power-pro-333-yard-depth-hunter/p-SPM14847467807?prdNo=14&blockNo=14&blockType=G14

Most of the time braids lose some of their color. Does that happen to the depth markers on the line?
DADAKOTA Posted May 30, 2016 Author Posted May 30, 2016 to me dragging cranks behind the boat is called pulling. Spider rigging them would be pushing the baits.
