Daryk Campbell Sr Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Went fishing this evening. The first cast was about 7:30 pm. Plenty of light. The sun was still bright. I was fishing a small creek, shall not be named. (If you must know, pm me. ) I was able to catch a small spotted bass on a Rick Clunns diver. Slowly dragging the bottom. Had a couple more strikes, but they were small fish. Seen a gar swimming right by me, didn't seem to be bothered by me. Later I started throwing a Zarra Spook Jr. Been reading alot about top water and walk the dog lures. I had alot of small fish tapping at it, but nothing much bigger than the lure itself. Then I seen a couple blows on it (nothing large by any means). I had a large rock 20 feet before a riffle and kept working around it. Patience paid off, a large grab, not a blow up. Took it down , set the hook and had some slack in the line. Was bringing the fish in, seen it, not large but very dark. Then it spit the hook and showed me it's tail. Nothing the rest of the night. Learned a few things tonight. I need to fish more often. You see, the fish I caught this evening was on the same lure I caught a crappie on year ago on father's day. Still tied on with the same knot. Also, I used it at the OAF Tournament. I learned by watching Macsimus a better way to cast. He was nice enough to let me on his boat the last two years at the tournament. I only fish a few times per year and I am usually with kids. I got myself into a rut and didn't know any better. Now I feel like I can cast a country mile. Tight lines. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)
