Talked to a friend of mine, who said he talked to a guy that took a boat out on McDaniel. The fellow said that when the MDC talked to him about it, they said they didn't care as long as the boat didn't have a motor. His did, so they kicked him off. Anyways I think the guy was just bs'ing, but I'm curious if any of you guys have heard the same thing! Interesting story nonetheless.

If I remember correctly the only boats that can be on the lake are from people that own land on the lake.

Negative.  A good buddy has land that borders the area and his kids have taken canoes out and were ran off. Unless things have changed since April, no watercraft of any kind.

TinBoats BassClub.  An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

That is true I've even been told by a county sheriff that not even kayaks are allowed on the lake which is messed up leaving you only the bridge to fish off of

if every body had a pole and a fish on the line there would never be a war

the lake belongs to city of springfield and is part of the water supply, hence the strict regulations. been that way for a long time

And this city hates fishing.

The city of Springfield is more into diversity.

I don't think the city hates fishing, just the trash, line and hooks some leave behind. Go below lake Springfield dam on a Monday the beer cans, bait containers and general trash is horrible. After spoon bill season the treble hooks can hurt. I have experienced the same at Fellows and McDaniels , they do have people that clean it up.

Yeah the rash was a problem. Funny thing is that since they have closed fishing in the parks the trash situation hasn't improved. Just different kind of trash.

All I'm saying is that there are some decent ponds in city parks that are closed to fishing. Used to be a kid could get on his bike and go to the park and have a little fun. Most of them can't bike all the way to Springfield Lake or Valley Water Mill or.....

Give them Park Rangers some trash bags and have them pick it up.
