Summer tourneys...How about a 3 fish limit? Should try to do something.

If we as a group want to do something we CAN NOT change the law, but we could make our feelings known to this Friday night group. We could show as a group and ask them not to put dead bass back in the lake and offer to take them if they are dead at Lakeside. We could have care instructions printed and pass out to the anglers and let them know we are watching. This would be hard work and take the skill and tack of a used car salesman because no one listens to a mad man. I am not volunteering but could help out in the printing department if we had other members that were going to be there at 2 am. If we had a group there with ice at 6pm then I would be willing to buy a few bags of ice and show up then. How far are you willing to "try to do something".

I plan on being there next Friday night..shoot me a message Stump if anyone plans on getting ice. Buying it from the machine across from hook, line and sinker is by far the best value. I will also talk to Harvey (guy who runs the Friday nighters) when I pay in for the tournament.

As I stated before, I'm sure some of the guys fishing off of the little fishing dock would love to have any bass that expire!

Heard from a friend and very honest guy that there were quite a few dead fish floating around Saturday morning, including one 5 pounds or better. I'm CPR all the way and personally wish there would be no hot weather derbies without proper care --- aerated post-weigh in holding tanks and a release boat to get them out away from the hot, oxygen-deprived water near the banks. But as has been said here before, it would be better to take them home than just to leave them for buzzard food. Sure doesn't give tournament fishing a good name among the general public.

Champ, there's no use fixing stupid. Been there done that got the t-shirt. Best we can do is sit back and let the idiots hang themselves.

Ha ha ha!!!  Here we go again...a know-it-all calling all us tournament fisherman stupid and idiots. No wonder other tournament guys won't post or comment on this page..

I'm sure Mike you and those you know take care of your fish because you love it.  It only takes a few "dummies" who don't care and boom...20+ dead ones.

We all need to stop ragging on everyone for the actions of a few. I think we have to let tourney guys police themselves and for them to let the "dummies" know floating dead fish are not an option.  Isn't there enough polarizing going on everywhere. Lets not start as fisherman. Just sayin'.  If you want to rag on anyone, find the F.....s who stole Vinscott and my fishing rods & tackle from our boat slips. There is some hatin' we can all get behind.

Your right Bill..the real Jack wagons are the guys who stole Vinscott's stuff!  I (along with others who have voiced their opinion) am amazed how someone will just sit behind a computer and throw shade at people he doesn't even know...and groups all tournament fisherman into his opinion of a bunch of KVD wanna be idiots. Hundreds of summer tournaments go on every week, it's not going to change.  Heck, the FLW championship is in Alabama in a couple weeks.

The issue of dead fish was addressed last Friday night at weigh-in. Those that have dead fish were asked to take them home and knock the sides off of them or find someone at the ramp to take them. We have not had any next morning floaters at our Tuesday night tourneys...if anyone questions me, ask Mike, Hickory Creek marina owner.

I will continue fishing all year long no matter who cries about it. Maybe we just need to have a fish fry tournament....weigh'em in, fillet them and eat'em!!!

As a tourney angler i believe there is more that can be done.  In July and August there should be a 3 fish max and tourneys should last no more than 4 hours day or night.  Three and a half hours is better.  Fishing 6 to 8 hours with such high water temps is irresponsible IMO.  Even more so when you are catching your fish out of 30+ feet of water.

Go ahead and do as you will (within the limits of the law) ... but the bottom line will always be that you can only eat 'em once.

Leading by example again, right?

Agree. I don't have a problem with anyone keeping bass, crappie, stripers, whatever. The AGFC put the limits in place for a reason. We all know that all different species get taken out of lakes every day to eat..heck, Larry Nixon, Tommy Martin, George Cochran and a couple more always had a fish fry every year during the FLW. And it's 100% Kentuckys that they fry up.
