will be fishing bull shoals in near future at night. some suggestions on techniques to try to avoid the zebra mussels. the only ones I can think of are deep swimming a jig and slow rolling a single spin trying to stay as close to bottom and brush piles as possible.  all advice welcome

My advice is to not worry about them. You are going to lose some lures. More if you fish the upper lake. a lot less on the lower end, but there are Zebra mussels spread all over the lake.

I fished the upper third of the lake during April. Zebra mussels where everywhere you looked. I think I got broken off 3 or 4 times over the course of the day. I think I caught about 30 bass. So yeah, its a problem, but not a deal breaker.

Yea, I agree with Ham. I fished Lake Erie quite a bit with tubes bouncing on the bottom. No deal breaker, just check your line often.
