Dutch Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I put in at Hartley Friday am and not a soul in sight. Fridays are usually busy with prefishers. I fished some spots in Hartley, moved over to Hawker and then saw a pontoon. I fished some spots there and left for the dam area. Down there I saw maybe 3 boats while I was fishing. Later I headed toward Mutton Creek to fish some main lake stuff. All day long I saw maybe 4 aluminum boats and 2 glitter sleds. It didn't take me long to find out why no one was there. The fish are on their after the fourth vacation. Only wound up catching a dozen small bass. I didn't even have hold of a keeper. I got some on spinner baits, some on worms and some on tubes. Some were near main lake points and some on bluffy banks. There was no real pattern and definitely no good bite. It was cloudy and the most pleasant day that I've seen in a long time, just not a good bite. Hickabilly, bassfisher, dtrs5kprs and 2 others 5
dan hufferd Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I was there it was slow, it was like revenge of the drum. I think the fish take turns feeding. Some go to dinner and back up from the table and let others feed.
DADAKOTA Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Put in at State Park Saturday morning about 6 and was the only trailer in the lot. Saw a few boats on the water later on. Walleye were slooooow. Talked with one boat about a mile up from SP and they had caught a few with one keeper in about 20 feet of water. Fished till 2 and ended up with one walleye and one crappie. Caught the usual assortment of bass, bluegill, and catfish. The drum were wearing me out. Tried pulling cranks for an hour or so and caught a single bluegill on 300 bandit. Fished the confluence area Sunday and caught 10 walleye with 2 keeps. Must have been a bass derby Sunday as the glitter boats were out in force. Only had one jump in front of me on a point just up frpm Hawker. Thought about continuing my bottom bouncing course which would have taken me right next to their boat but I had other spots to fish. Big guy in the back wearing a bright yellow shirt throwing a jig didn't look like he was having too much fun anyway. dan hufferd 1
