slothman Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Anybody catching any bass? What are you having luck with? I have found a few on worms out on points. Where are you finding the fish lately? Help a fella get on some fish.
Hydro 205 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I had 3 quick keepers Saturday morning on a shakey head. Then the next three morning just dinks. It seems like they got lock jaw.
slothman Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 Seems like I can catch dinks all day long. Been a bit harder to find any keepers. I'm suresomebody here is on a pattern that they can help a guy catch a decent sized fish.
Old plug Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I have not left the dock but my son caught 4 keepers Saturday night off my dock. I know the guys around Laurie have all been catching bass. A friend got a 6 1/2 pounder Sunday before last at 11am in 10ft of water. He won a tournament with that one and 3 other keepers.
fishinwrench Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 All of mine lately have come from 12-18' dock brush, ledges with brush, and then suspended on the outside ends of docks. Haven't caught a biggun in a week or so though.
Old plug Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 That is what I would expect Wrench if I was getting out. But the ones they got in the tournament were shallower than that. They were up at 44MM. The ones my son got off my dock were between 2-4 am. They were all very concentrate along one very dark side of the dock.
slothman Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 Still catching lots of dinks. Stringers of quality fish still seem elusive. Catching on Texas rigged worms and shaky heads. Nothing on spinnerbaits, crank baits, or jigs.
Old plug Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Maybe your not in he right place at the right time. You have not mentioned you been flipping shaded dock corners in the evening.
slothman Posted July 31, 2016 Author Posted July 31, 2016 Man, the bite seems to be getting tougher. Catching a few on Texas rigged or shaky head worms (mostly shorts). Jigs don't seem to be doing much for me or anyone I've talked to. I've seen some guys throwing swim baits around shad but don't know if they caught anything. Brush Hogs and worms in brush piles around docks seem to be the trick right now, it is just a tough bite. Btw, most of my fishing has been in the evenings/early night.
fishinwrench Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Anytime in the Summer when the deep bite seems slow I head to the backends of the coves. There are resident fish that stay there no matter how hot it gets, and for me they are way easier to locate than deeper fish that aren't on a good bite. The only downside is all the idling you have to do to get to the backs of every cove....Fish for 15-30 minutes... and then idle back out again, run to the next cove... and idle some more.
