Dan the fisherman Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I was coming in this morning from a short fishing trip and as I passed deer island I seen this boat beached. I don't know what or how it happened, but I hope everyone on the boat is ok. That being said, hope ya'll r sticking to the channels. I know that bar they beached on is under water durning spring, but with water levels lower, they hit it at night I imagine. Be careful out there guys. I know I'd hate to end up like this.
Members Bg193ch Posted August 11, 2016 Members Posted August 11, 2016 Man, nothing good could've come from a scene like that. I don't know where deer island is, but I know I'm seeing more and more land when I cruise up the river. On a lighter note, did u have any success on the water?
Stump bumper Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Following those OLD GPS tracks will cause that, I was in a boat a few years back that the driver did that and it is not fun. That is the reason I clear my old tracks every time I go out and I am really looking at the 7inch hummingbird GPS just because you can set different depths to be different colors, makes staying in the channel so much easier.

I was more on a scout trip. I've been beating to death 2 channel swings and was looking for some new water. Still was a beautiful morning. ?? Bg193ch 1
bfishn Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Last time that bar was completely exposed the skeg marks on it looked like Twiggy's ribcage... all the way from 100 feet off the shore to the island. I can't dance like I used to.

This happened last night in the Wednesday night derby..don't know who it was but they put it up on dry land, huh??
Champ188 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 You gotta give 'em credit for a job well done. They didn't even have to get their feet wet when they dismounted. J-Doc, Mike jones, Flysmallie and 2 others 5
Blll Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Gotta give that point 100 ft of clearance.....Always! Good tip Stump about not following older GPS tracks but that boat was going to have trouble most nights. That float is only in 3-4 " of water.
jeb Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Still there. Quillback and I saw it yesterday while out fishing. Hope nobody was hurt. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
