WeekendWarrior Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Well the weather is beautiful but for me the fishing not so good, never boated a fish last night MOsmallies 1
fishinwrench Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Still slow up this way also. I've tried all sorts of stuff but they don't seem to be very aggressive about anything.
MOsmallies Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Awesome picture! Wish I had information on a good bite for you to try but I haven't been down in a few weeks. Kids are almost back to school and the temps will start going down. Good fishing is right around the corner! Daryk Campbell Sr 1
WHARFRAT Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Compared to last weekend, fishing this weekend was a bust, but it was still nice to be on the lake at night! @lozcrappie

What a difference a couple days make, we probably lost 10 lbs fishing it was so hot and humid and then this weekend was just B E A U T I F U L ! Wish fishing was better, been running my same piles where I had the 4 keepers with the toad but no takers, may need to try shallow?
fishinwrench Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Late August thru September is usually a great time to throw crankbaits. I sure can't get bit on one now though. The only semi-consistent bite I can figure out is "worms in brush", but I think the fish are getting sick of looking at worms. Nothing else I've tried seems to get many bites though. Thought I had a swim jig thing figured out Saturday but that only worked in a few select spots. They've pretty much quit the Spinnerbait as far as I can tell.
slothman Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Been slow for me too. Bite is definitely tough. The weather report for this week is looking pretty good though. I'll probably be out there trying to get a pattern going if I can just catch a few fish.
Flatbottom Boy Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I was out early Saturday morning fishing the Glaize. I worked shallow in the backs of coves for quite a while with buzz baits and some WTD lures. Nothing. I moved out more toward the middle/fronts and casted one of these, watermellon/red, on a finesse head. I picked up fish but most were short. I didnt measure any but a few might have pushed the 15". I fished no docks at all, mostly up the glaize past McCubbins. Kept me entertained until the pleasure boat army invaded. WeekendWarrior and MOsmallies 2
WeekendWarrior Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Well I abandoned my deep water stuff after not catching much and went to the docks and fishing was still slow but managed one good one with a couple shorts with 2 of the fish off of one dock. Fish were in about 6 feet of water behind a dock. It is either a timing deal and I am missing it or I just been stinking it up ?, well probably a little of both. fishinwrench, Flatbottom Boy and MOsmallies 3
MOsmallies Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Way to adjust! That's one of my weaknesses on the water... I get hard headed sometimes with trying to catch them in the places they are supposed to be and the baits they are supposed to be hitting. I need to learn how to adjust better on the fly if my initial pattern isn't working, Well done!
