Terry Beeson Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I worked with some Chinese folks that brought in some crab jerky for snacks... Now THAT was boney... troutchaser Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 But wait. . . crabs don't have bones. So what, exactly, was in that "crab" jerky? Paul Rone
WebFreeman Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 That's kind of like asking "what's in sausage?" I probably don't want to know. My wife made try a "fried shrimp ball" at the buffet. I suggested they change the name to "fried bait ball." No so good..... “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
Terry Beeson Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Technically, yes, crabs DO have bones... they are exoskeletal (bones on the outside) so the shell constitutes the "bone." The crab jerky was simply "itty bitty" soft shell crabs they dry in salt (sea salt) and these were in a bag like a bag of potato chips (a commercial brand.) They had crab, squid, and fish jerky. It was all "gawd awful" smelling, but the squid wasn't too bad tasting. I couldn't handle the fish or crab... and I LOVE crab... As far as Leonard's seahorses, they're like Campbell's soup... MMM MMM GOOD! By the way, Leonard... I looked up some recipes... if you haven't tried it yet, put a bit of cheddar cheese under the jalapeno. I did mine on foil to keep the cheese from running out. MAN... made a good thing even BETTER!!!
