Members Buck Posted September 8, 2016 Members Posted September 8, 2016 Hello all, I'm in need of a good outboard mechanic, I banged up my lower unit and now it won't run under load. Does anyone know of any good outboard mechanics between Fayetteville, AR and Springfield, MO that won't charge and a leg to do repairs? I'm a student so unfortunately I'm on a student budget. All it is is a 1997 Yamaha 25hp two stroke so I reckon it shouldn't be too hard to work on. Thanks in advance!
merc1997 Bo Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 unfortunately, marine engines are expensive to work on. there are several dealers in the area. ulrich's comes to mind. right here in cassville, we have bill vance marine, and they would be able to fix your issue. fishingwrench here on the forum might be able to help you. bo
Ellros Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Yeah, there are quite a few dealers along 13 and 76 north and south of Branson West. Probably the best bet is to call and get estimates or at least a general idea.
cheesemaster Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Fishinwrench is a great source of knowledge - if you are mechanical and have some time, he might help walk you through it. He has helped me on changing impellers and electrical problems on several seperate occasions. Thanks again for that wrench!!
Sore Thumbs Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 If you live in NW Arkansas give me a holler. I have a guy. He used to work at a local boat dealer. He is a little less money than anyone else and he knows what he is doing. Buck 1

Members JerryK Posted September 9, 2016 Members Posted September 9, 2016 I have been happy with Ulrich's for engine work. I had Branson Upholstery redo my seats and they did a really nice job for me this spring.

I knew they said boats are expensive but I didn't figure what I was getting into. I will probably shoot wrench a message as well, but I really hate being a bother to someone I haven't met and am hours away from.

176champion Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 If I couldn't do my own work on my boat and motor I would not be able to afford one... tapout 1 I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
