Anyone know why SWPA is constantly running just enough water to screw up the wade fishing? They even ran the same schedule last weekend with the fly fishers conclave going on in Mountain Home.

The short answer is they don't consider the needs of fishermen on the White or Norfork rivers, or Lake Taneycomo. They did the same thing on Taney this summer. Their only concerns are flood control and selling power.

It is one of the great mysteries of mankind.   In the old days it seems like they would generate at night and turn it off during the day.  That ended just prior to the Min flow debate and debacle.

They are running less than a half unit pretty much all day for the last 2 weeks. Their usual schedule this time of year is minimum flow until mid day and then either 1 or 2 full units. I can't imagine that the current schedule generates more revenue than running 2 full units for 6 hours a day.

The Corps of Engineers is replacing intake equipment at Norfork Dam.  Because of the design of Norfork Dam, this project requires the pool elevation to be at or below elevation 553.0 ft.  Southwestern will continue to generate as needed to keep the pool below 553.0 ft; however, there will be times when floodwaters will create a rising pool at Norfork and will prevent work which will prolong the project.

If the pool drops to below 553.0 ft and inflow into Norfork Lake is low, then you may see more periods of minimum flow during the days and weekends.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for the update Tyler. Any idea when the work will be finished?
