Ive fished this lake many times in March, so I'm accustomed to pulling live bait and 6-10 rods. I'm anticipating doing about the same with more free lines/planers and hoping to catch them busting surface at some point. Yes drive around. Go ahead and set up but keep ur eyes open and look for blow ups. That's how I've been finding them. Quillback 1
Dan the fisherman Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 My eyes r good enough I can still see far. But honestly some binoculars might be useful. Mike Jones know what I'm talking about. Lol. Spot fish from a mile away. Stump bumper and Mike jones 2

My eyes are old and going bad, but I can smell them when they get close to top.....but most of the time it is the glimmer off a shad coming out of the water about 3 feet that will give them away, the problem is you have to drop that trolling motor at least 100 yards out. Just as soon as you get close to the swirls someone will run full plane right through them and they will go down to 50 feet and stop feeding, and that is why you leave the guns at home....

Members Alumacraft190 Posted October 31, 2016 Members Posted October 31, 2016 Heres another question for you guys....this time of year are balloons effective with a shorter leader from the balloon to the bait? I've used balloons some in spring but I dont feel like theyve ever been too productive for me.

But at sunrise and sunset if you are setting on an area where they are feeding on top, look out.
