Unimog Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Put in at RB ramp and immediately saw bass and bluegill up shallow so that's what I did from the dam up to hawker point after the fog finally cleared. The main things I used were a 3/8 jewel finesse jig, a wobble head and did some experimenting with the larger size ned rig. Had this rigged on a baitcasting rod with 10# line. It works okay but with the standard head and rigging it wanted to get hung up often. I rigged it on a standard shaky head weedless and that helped a lot. Fish were bunched up it seemed. Saturday I started with the same deal but soon got one tangled up in a shallow brush pile. So I got a power shot out rigged with a Yamamoto flapping hog, then a perch D shad and started throwing at brush. This was more reliable as I'd get at least one per spot. So it seems there are several still out in the brush as well as close to the bank.
Hammer time Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Interesting, my last 3 trips fish were scattered, granted I don't fish brush piles. And mostly stayed in river out of CC. My last trip was from mutton to dam and fish were scattered. Glad you found some and thanks for the report.
Unimog Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 They were scattered for sure. Water temps hit high 60s. You know it's a weird fall when you're hot fishing the first of November
Dutch Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Thanks for the report. I have some business at Stockton on Thursday and plan to take the boat along for an afternoon's fishing. If you try any spinner baits?
Unimog Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 Didn't try a spinnerbait but I did catch one on a spro rockcrawler.
Lifes2Short Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Was up this past Saturday & Monday and caught a number of nice bass with a spinnerbait. I would also encourage you to throw some topwater off and on all day. It was the BIG ticket for me! If you find those whites put on a baby spook they love that bait this time of year!
Dutch Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I only got to fish from noon to 3 yesterday. It was a real good sw wind capping out side of Hartley. I could only muster 6 bass. 5 were caught on a home made spinnerbait and the only keeper came off a windy bluff on a 1/2 oz poison tail pbj jig.
Members freefallin Posted November 16, 2016 Members Posted November 16, 2016 I am actually just starting my 2016 fishing season this week at OT. ( 8 month recovery from motorcycle accident).
