Not the big buck i was after but after hunting every day of the rifle season including before work or after work (joys of working night shift) as well as most days i was off during the first half of archery season I was blessed with this 8 pt on the morning of the 22nd.  He came in following a doe and after about 10 mins he finally stopped in an opening thru the limbs of the tree I was in at 60 yds.  hit him solid broadside thru both shoulders.  spun around and ran down the hill another 60 yds before finally crashing in the timber.  shot him with my grandfathers old JC Higgins Sears and Roebuck model 50 30-06 that I inherited years ago.  had a running shot on a stud of a buck (2nd pic), especially for Taney Co, 4 days before that that my buddy shot 45 minutes after he came running by me chasing a doe, just couldnt get him to slow down or stop for me but I'm glad he got a shot on him.   up till that point I had been seeing was spikes and yearling.

My buck.  8pt and the tip of  the right antlers were worn flat.
