Guest Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 My folks decided to come down for Thanksgiving, so I was able to get out and fish with my dad for a couple of mornings. On Thanksgiving day, we got out at first light and fished for about 5.5 hours. The bite on 1/16 ounce Zig Jigs was good, and we ended up catching 42 trout (39 Rainbows, 2 Cutts, and 1 Brown). The biggest trout we landed that day was a 21.5" Rainbow. We caught several Rainbow trout in the 15 and 16" range. Both of the Cutts and the Brown I caught that day were small, however, I lost a Brown that appeared to be around 20" or so. We got out on the 26th at first light again and fished for about 6.5 hours. We ended up catching 33 trout (29 Rainbows, 3 Cutts, and 1 Brookie). The bite was tougher, however the average size of the fish we caught was better. Big fish that day was an 18.75" Cutt. We also landed a 17.5" and 17.25" Rainbow along with several Rainbows in the 15 and 16" range. The Brookie was about 12 inches. We fished 1/16 ounce Zig Jigs again that day. All of the trout we caught both days were in pools and runs. We had minimum flow both mornings and were able to wade fish all the usual areas.
Johnsfolly Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 That's a nice rainbow. Now that I have seen and fished some of that water, I can better appreciate that fishery. Seems like it's managed well. You should let the fisheries guys know that they are doing a great job!
WoundedOne Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 That place sure is a great fishery. I am definitely going back before JF 2017
