Fish Bork Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Would like to go hunting on Friday but I have no clue where birds are. (Yeah I know go scout but I have a job and 2 little kids) I live in Springfield and I've got a kayak. Does 4 Rivers have any birds? Thanks Daryk Campbell Sr 1 Time flies like an arrow. BilletHead Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Well Mr. Bork, Yes Four Rivers has birds but it also has a good three to four inches of ice. They are keyed in on the refuge that the birds keep thawed and cornfields they can access. No on the cornfields because most are close to the refuge and leased by folks with fat pockets. Maybe the rain this weekend will do its job to open up water that can be hunted, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" JohnP Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Heard a lil shooting on Taneycomo yesterday but driving around scouting yesterday I did not finding any birds other than cheeto eaters aka local park birds. Didn't get out today so don't know if any showed up overnight or not. BilletHead 1
Members Buck Posted December 20, 2016 Members Posted December 20, 2016 I was out by four rivers Sunday buying a new boat and we decided to stop by unit 4 to see if we could break an ice hole, that was a no go. We got maybe a 20'x20' hole and decided it wasn't worth it and decided to hit the Sonic in El Dorado. I figured the south zone would be hot now, but we still are barely seeing numbers of birds. About to turn my mud motor into an ice motor if it doesn't thaw out soon. JohnP and BilletHead 2
duckydoty Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Fished K Dock up to Snap on Bull Shoals today and saw a few golden eye and a dozen geese. Not much as far as water fowl. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners

Chief Grey Bear Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I was at the confluence of the Osage and Sac Thursday. Looking and listening. It was dead. As I turn to leave I heard the faint sound of a boat coming down the Osage. As I look back and watched him he was pushing 2 to 300 ducks down river. Before reaching the bluff they rose and split and went back around him and upstream. I wish I would've had a nice video camera. It was a gorgeous day and it was just so beautiful watching this duck hunter come down the river and then go up the Sac with all of his gear and is faithful companion. I was in the area again Monday it was all froze up. Fish Bork Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 I'm guessing 4 rivers is still frozen is there any access near Osceola on the Sac? Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
