Hammer time Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Put in at 9:30 and ran up the Big Sac about a mile past Birch. Water temp 41.04. Started on channel swings with 3/8oz green pumpkin finesse jig and caught 1 barely a keeper. Worked swings all the way past chicken rock with jig and clown rouge, nada. Went down past mile long bridge working bluffs and swings with rouge and jig no bites. Temp 45.6 Last hour of daylight finally caught 2 shorts on clown rouge. Tuff fishing but enjoyed the day just the same. Like my dad says "it's better than sitting at home watching lassie" Tight lines and CPR zarraspook, Brad N Steph, dprice and 3 others 6

Hammer time Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 Was tuff, blue bird skies after around 1:30 and northern wind didn't help. Was surprised, when I launched their was 8 rigs in parking lot, but when I loaded up, no one in parking lot but my truck. I fished hard and was happy with the three I caught, considering conditions. I'll whack em next time. Hickabilly 1
Members bassnut Posted December 29, 2016 Members Posted December 29, 2016 Hammer, I think my grandson and I were putting in at same time at Mutton. We had the opposte day you had as we had 15 keepers and probably caught 35 or so. 1 on a jig, 2 on a jerk bait and all the rest on A-Rig and spy bait. All our fish came off gravel points and most were in 5-10 ft range. Had no luck fishing big rock or bluffs and spent all our time in Suns creek and the chicken rock area. Had a couple of 18", several 16", rest 15" or so. Bite got tougher in the afternoon but still able to catch several until we had to leave about 3:30. My shoulder is sore today from heaving that big A-Rig all day but worth it I guess. Hope this helps you and others with some ideas to try. zarraspook 1
Hammer time Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Thanks for the report. I guess I was fishing to deep and the wrong stuff. I don't use a-rig, never have. It catches a lot of fish, but I'll never use one. To each his own. dprice 1
