navery Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 What I would like to know, is where they go in the winter. I can find bait and birds, but don't mark them like I do in the summer and fall. Anyone have any input on winter/early spring fishing patterns?

BilletHead Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Couldn't be much better. Maybe a hybrid fly rod top water bite would put me over the top . Bet those girls of yours are growing. navery Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 The humps in front of KK island are always a good spot. The airport by mile long bridge, and point O3 which is adjacent the airport are great spots when they get into their summer patterns. Have live bait straight down in rod holders around 15 ft and have a top water lure or a 1oz spoon tied on another rod. You can blind cast while waiting for them to push through your baits with the spoon. Always have an eye on the horizon looking for fish busting bait on top. In summer, the first major feeding is from dawn to around 10 am. They then feed again the last 1.5 hours before sunset. If it's overcast, the well feed anytime throughout the day. Good luck!
Members fishmor Posted February 9, 2017 Author Members Posted February 9, 2017 Thanks. I've fished 03 a lot. I wasn't familiar enough with the KK humps to fish them but just bought a new Helix 9 SI so plan on learning them. When the lake gets high enough for the current to cut accross the gap at KK the fish really stack up in there. I even found a bunch of crappie right on the bottom. Had to put the biggest splitshot I had right against the head of the jig to get it down but they hit it every time . Found the hybrids there too. That may have been the day I caught a 13 pounder and lost the biggest one I ever had on. I'm anxious to get at it. I'm rigging up a 24 ft Redneck tritoon. It works great and is well engineered. nomolites 1

It would be my guess that most are already headed to the head waters looking for current?
