Walking the mud bank for crappie

I took my 4 year old on a little adventure. We accessed the river where I thought no boats could run. First area, we had to traverse the sandy areas to keep from sinking in the mud. It was wider & slacker with no wood cover. So, I ditched it after 30 minutes. Water was 51 degrees & had a good stain. We left there & headed 500 yards across the mud flat towards a rock wall. When we got there, I discovered the floods moved the channel away from the rock bank. So, I found a log out in the middle of the channel, parallel to the current. The first 6 casts produced 3 keeprs & 3 misses. I was fishing a blk/chrt bobby Garland baby shad on 1/16oz jghead tipped with a very small minnow (tiny tim) under a bobber set 18" deep. My son caught his first crappie & I'm a proud Daddy tonight. Even with a 4 wheeler, it would be hard to get my NuCanoe to the water without sinking neck deep in the mud. Now, Im thinking about a river jon boat with a jet drive. I've always wanted a boat that can run skinny water. I saw a guy with an old tracker that had a modified inboard/outboard jet motor. It was pretty sweet.

Lol yeah, I'm going to use the NuCanoe instead. Although a shallow water river boat is on my want list. It can wait.

The BasCat is staying in the family. My dad loves that boat. It's not going anywhere.
