Members tkobermann Posted February 2, 2017 Members Posted February 2, 2017 Hey guys I am new to the forum. I've grown up fishing ozark streams in southern Missouri. Smallmouth bass have become my favorite species to target and I have gotten very good at catching them on ozark streams. However, I have never really targeted smallmouth on reservoirs. I am going to Bull Shoals lake the second week of April with my dad and brother in law to target smallmouth. I am curious if anyone has any advice on catching smallmouth on reservoirs such as when do they spawn, where do they spawn (main lake, arms, shallow coves, next to tributaries, etc.), depth to catch them this time of year, etc. We only catch and release smallmouth as I have too much respect for these fish and how long it takes them to grow. We're just looking for the fight of a lifetime with a trophy bronzeback! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
timinmo Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I have no advise but if no one chimes in here you might try the Bull Shoals or Table Rock section and see what you get there.
RSBreth Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I would go Table Rock in that time frame, but maybe one of the Bull Shoals guys will chime in here.
