Whodat Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 My son and 2 of his friends and I went to Taylor bridge yesterday with no luck at all. The fish is up there because 2 of the guy's I talked to said they have been there the last 3 day's in a row and limited out after a few hours. They did say the bite was better right before dark but we left about 4:00. There was lot's of people there and I didn't see a fish one caught. Trying again friday!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 22, 2007 Root Admin Posted March 22, 2007 Early and late and even after dark is the best time for whites, esp on a sunny day.
smbasser Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 Fished Taylor Bridge March 20-22. Had alot of success all 3 days. Sit in at about 1:00 pm everyday. March 20-Found the fish in the slack water. Me and a friend had 30 nice males and came back later in the evening and had another 27 with the majority of them being females. Caught the females around dusk. Had a 21 inch walleye that weighed around 4 lbs. March 21-Took another friend and with the rain the days before the water was up and had a little color. Found the fish really stacked up in the dead water staying out of the current. We threw brighter colors and had 30 nice fish with the majority being females. March 22-Took a different friend and had 30 more nice fish. Went farther upstream because the current slowed down and the water cleared up. This time we found most of our fish in the current. Caught 2 more nice walleye and missed a good crappie. Seen the whites in the current mating and every fish we caught had 5-6 followers underneath it. Overall, I fished 3 days and had 117 white bass. I have fished at Taylor Bridge for quite a while now and seem to have a good idea of how far they are upstream. No one seemed to believe they were that far upstream but they are. I am back in college now so i can share this information becuase i don't have a chance to go back. Fish were caught on 2 main baits. Colors were white. Can't tell you my secret colors, but send me a pm if you don't believe me and i will show you pictures or give you more information. No fish were caught on swimming minnows, don't like them becuase everyone and their brother throws them.
Dutch Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I wasn't quite as far as Taylor Bridge yesterday. I fished in the storms and had a fair day on whites (22). They had moved on me and the crappie had moved in (55). I also picked up some walleye. Most of the fish came on plastics.
Whodat Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 Probably taking the wife down this afternoon, are they all the way up to the railroad bridge? I fished righjt at the bridge a couple of days ago and didn't catch a fish. My neighbor works at St.John's and guy in the lab has been down everyday going up stream with a fly rod limiting out everyday.
Micheal Kyle Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 yes with the rain they are everywhere. I fish up there every night on the fly and have been catching them all the way up to the railroad bridge. It's no secret everyones knows now. grey and white and chartreuse and white clousers. When the water goes back down they will be even hotter. You should check the water level be for you go the USG's site said they have about 1300 Cfs that is pretty high if you are going to be wading or fishing off the bank. I have not seen it today but I would say that is looks a lot like chocolate milk. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Whodat Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 Just got back from Taylor bridge and don't waste your time for a couple of days. It's very high, very fast and very muddy. About 10 cars got there after us and all but one left including the boats. One boat went up past us to the railroad bridge and floated back down with zero fish and fired the motor up and left. Lot's of people and boats at Iron bridge but still muddy and fast water. Seen Suzy, the conservation lady and said she had not seen hardly any fish today but they are up there.

Flysmallie Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Take Hwy 13 north out of town. Left on Hwy 215 going to Morrisville. Right on Farm Road 60. Right at the T. You are there. Approx 20 - 25 miles.
