Members Grappling Coach Posted February 28, 2017 Members Posted February 28, 2017 My son will be home from collage March 13th and staying a few days. I thought about taking him and his wife white bass fishing up the James, but have not been up there in years. I know that every year is different, due to water temps and rainfall, but are the whites usually up to blunks by that time?. Also, if they are not there, can they be caught down the river a ways? in years past, I have seen boats piled up on the mud flats at Ashers and figured that they were catching a few there. I have never fished for them below mccords bend and am not sure how to get after them down river. Thanks for any help.
Bill Babler Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 There may be some up there by then, and especially if we would get some warm rain and a lake rise. White bass are always hard to count on however. I fish most everyday and I do not risk taking clients unless I know it is just a done deal and it very seldom is. The slightest and I mean the slightest thing can run them back down stream or make them clam up. If I were you I would go over to Lilleys' and catch trout. The bite is fantastic and for people that don't get to fish a bunch the bite is everything. You may skunk, you may do ok or you may do well on the Whites, On Taney with what is in there now, you will do great with lots of laughs, memories and fun chasing those wily Rainbows. Just something to consider Good Luck mixermarkb, Champ188, Sore Thumbs and 2 others 5 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
