Members ChiefWannaCatchem Posted March 1, 2017 Members Posted March 1, 2017 Buying my first bass boat this weekend...trying to get setup for retirement in 3 or 4 years or so. Can anyone offer advise on crappie fishing Pom De Terre? Haven't lake fished much and not wanting to know your exact favorite spot..just general ideas where to put in on the east side and thoughts on how to get my bride and I on some fish. May be able to get away for a couple days in a week or so. Thanks to anyone that is willing to throw a guy a bone !
Dutch Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 There are brush piles all over the lake with signs marking them. That would be a good place to start. Nemo or State Park for launching depending on if you want up the Lindley or down closer to the dam.
Members ChiefWannaCatchem Posted March 1, 2017 Author Members Posted March 1, 2017 That's what I was looking for...just pointed in the general direction. Is one of those ramps as good as the other as far as launching? Thanks a bunch
MOPanfisher Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Agree with what Dutch said, when its good, it is fabulous. Will be very weather dependent and water level dependent. Stable or slow rise and its on, cold front or high dirty water and don't hold your breath. Find you a nice cove with some gravel, to chunky rock, and if there are some brushpiles, stumps or button bush out in the water even better. And definitely download the fish attractor coordinates (or print a map) from the MDC Website.
Members ChiefWannaCatchem Posted March 1, 2017 Author Members Posted March 1, 2017 Thanks! I'll definitely print a map and get the coordinates. Man I appreciate your thoughts !
Members CrappieNinja Posted March 1, 2017 Members Posted March 1, 2017 The brush piles are typically in 15' of water. Even if you have GPS with the coordinates it helps knowing that to get on them. Tehmilz4 1 ---------

Ranger520vx Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 1/32 - 1/16 oz jig head with shad colored tube or Bobby Garland vertical jigged over and in brush piles in 15-25 fow will catch you crappie all summer long on Pomme. You may have to hit several piles to get on a hot one but you will find one. Right now they seem to be more on standing timber in around 20 fow. Good luck to ya.
MOPanfisher Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Yep, keep hitting them untilyou find the "one". Some days they will be in the brush some day suspended above, go seaching for them, remember if you don't lose a few jigs you arent doing it right. Ranger520vx 1
