Dan the fisherman Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 I know it's still a ways, but I've ordered something new from Cabelas and pick it up at the store today in preparation for summer. Ordered some jigging raps in the 5/8 oz. has n e one used these for vertical jigging deep fish. Never heard n e one talk about them. Personally I'm excited to try them out. Here's some pic. What do y'all think. Carl W 1
nomolites Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 They work but the fromt and rear hooks will snag if you give them an opportunity. If you plan on working brush or hard bottoms may want to cut them off.... Mike Dan the fisherman 1
Dan the fisherman Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 I don't usually get deep in the brush. I tend to stay a little above it. I'll definitely keep that in mind though. Thanks.
Quillback Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 They work pretty well on Table Rock for winter time deep fish. I haven't fished them much, but that is what I've been told. You also want don't want to work them very hard.
jolicious Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I would give myself three hours until I was headed to the ER to get a hook pulled out of my hand....
rps Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Cut off the stationary hooks on the end. When fishing vertically, snap the bait upwards and allow the bait to fall on slack line. You do not need to move the bait 4 or six feet vertically. One very effective technique is to allow the wind to drift you over a stretch of structure you have identified as productive and snap and slack without turning the reel handle. Somewhere on the net there is an Al Linder video on this.
