When the voltage drops below 11 my Lowrance units shut off.  It used to happen all of the time with 24 series batteries.  The best battery I ever had was the Sears PM-1 but I have heard it is no longer made.  I don't have that issue any more as I now run a Vrod.

Your voltmeter is either inaccurate, or you have a bad connection in your power harness or fuse panel/fuse link.   Lowrance units shut down at 9.5 - 9.9 volts.

I haven't really checked it with a volt meter.  I'm just quoting what the Lowrance tech told me when I called them to discuss this issue.

Unless he was referencing a certain model that I'm not familiar with, he was wrong.   All of the Lowrance units I know about will remain booted up at 10v.

what do you think about running the motor on a car starting battery instead of a marine battery. Then put my bilge, livewells, electronics  on a marine battery of it's own. Could the motor keep its battery charged from the alternator? would a group 29 marine last all day with the electronics and other stuff all day?

Why would you want to put the extra weight in the boat when a good battery will do all of that?

That has the same specs but a different price tag.
