yaknar Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I went out for the first time, this year. The river was up a little and the wind was blowing, hard. I had to have a paddle in the water all day. When the current wasn't pushing me down stream, the wind was blowing me back upstream. I need to say last year, it seemed every time I would get out it had just rained. I was in my kayak most of my floats and my kayak seat not padded so.....The kayak outfitters want about $20 for a pad so I stopped at Lowes and bought a kneeling pad, $10, cut it, had some leftover velcro and now have an 1 1/2 inch pad. I thought about using a stadium seat but it was not thick enough. I did not find any whites, but I did catch a few. They were all in deep water caught on cranks. Here's a couple pictures of my smallest and biggest. Great day on the river for my first float... Flysmallie, JestersHK, bs1827 and 7 others 10
Flysmallie Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Nice logperch. I need a couple of those for my aquarium.
nhornback Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 If you don't mind me asking, What kind of cranks do you throw out there? That's something that I rarely throw on the river but should add to my arsenal for high/swift water situations. Thanks, Nick Bass Yakker 1
yaknar Posted April 13, 2017 Author Posted April 13, 2017 nhornback, the river was up, dirty and there weren't any shallow or still pool to speak of, so I put on a bright deep crank. I was thinking the fish were deep, hiding behind all the rocks and out of the current. But the main thing I had on a crankbait that I have confidence in, that I know I will catch fish with. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.... Bass Yakker 1
