MoCarp Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 I wonder if the high water will mean more large fish next year...? more food /fertility introduced? even better spawning because of high water conditions...would like feed back on what everyone has noticed.... MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Quillback Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Saw some of what AGFC had to say about Beaver being high, and they say it will lead to better fry survival due to more cover being available.
Al Agnew Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 If the fry survive the flood on a river, they should do well afterwards, but surviving the flood is the key. I just saw Thursday that there are still a lot of smallmouth on beds in the stream I floated, so hopefully they'll produce enough late fry to keep that year class intact. Lakes are different, in that the flooding shouldn't affect fry survival. The brown trout on Current River might see a big growth spurt eating all the hatchery rainbows that got washed into the river.
