Gumboot Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Once I get it cranked it fires right up everytime and runs like a top. After it sits a week or two its a bear. Maybe bulb? I prime the bulb but it never gets super hard, just kinda mushy. Is there a manual choke on this thing? Haven't run the starter battery dead yet...but I've tried. Any help appreciated.
fishinwrench Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Once the carb bowls are full of fuel the primer bulb should get firm. If it doesn't then the first step is to determine why and rectify it. Remove the fuel supply line from the motor and see if the primer bulb is doing its job, if so then pull the air box cover off and make sure one of the carbs isn't flooding (overflowing with fuel). If not then operate the choke and see if it is doing its job, if so then you might as well take it to a shop where all the other systems can be checked/tested.

Thanks wrench, I'll do the fuel line and bulb thing. If that doesn't fix it, I'll take it to shop. Stuff tends to get jacked up when I take a cowling off.
MOPanfisher Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 My 90 HP is a cold natured starter if not used for a while. I wold pump the bulb till hard and fight it to start it. Finally go smart enough to realize I was flooding it. Now I will give it a squeeze before I leave home and them crank it with no choke at the ramp, and it will usually fire within 10 seconds, after that it will start immediately. But my bulb will pump tight so may not have a a anything in common.
