Quillback Posted June 11, 2017 Author Posted June 11, 2017 Didn't investigate the stomach contents. Probably would find a bunch of stinky half digested shad. Fishburger, great idea, I'll have to do a search for a recipe.
jeb Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Uh-oh. Quill gonna' trade in the bass gear for some reels with counters on them and build a pole holding rig on the back of the Phoenix? Sounds like a fun day, Jeff. Those nicer stripers are fighting fools, no doubt about it. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha

It's just funner that way. 10 pound test and a old bass rod is the best way to catch the in my opinion

I was pulling in a 10lber across the top and Fins and feathers was close and said he had never seen a striper jump out of the water when reeled in just like a large mouth. When your geared for 40lb bringing in those 10lbers is like hooking a bluegill on a bass rod. But then again I fish a ned rig on 24lb Gliss just because I can bend back a hook easier than finding a lure and retying and I hate leaving plastic in the lake or in fish. Though I have left some Arigs in trees and had to use the big motor to break off because I didn't want to leave all that braid for someone to get in their prop by cutting the line.

I haven't had a problem releasing them yet. But I only chase them in cold months so that helps. I do keep some for my family though. Quillback 1
