Members granttw Posted June 22, 2017 Members Posted June 22, 2017 Does anybody know what the water level at Caplinger Mills is like? Fished there about a week ago and it was just about right to catch some fish and not have to wade out. Curious what the water level was like so I don't waste an hour and fifteen minute drive to find out its very low. Thanks
Kramr Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Don't know if this will help you. http://stockton.uslakes.info/Level/
MoCarp Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 its all in the water release at stockton MONKEYS? what monkeys?
BilletHead Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 These three sites will tell you everything you want to know. First is the corps water management, http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/Water-Management/ I go to the three day forecast. Tells you the anticipated release. Then the South west power pool, http://www.swpa.gov/generationschedules.aspx Click Stockton on the day you are going. Note they update late in the afternoons for the following days forecast. On Friday they will show Saturday through Monday. This is an hourly table showing how many megawatts will be generated. Now to the state streamflow map. There are three gauges below Stockton. Two just below the dam and the third says near Caplinger Mills but it isn't even close it is below Cedar Creek at the town of BlackJack. Just use the two spots below Stockton, click on them for a graph. You will need to use all three sites and then you do some figuring. This will allow you to hit the peak or low water that you want at Caplinger. Note the first two sites will not be 100% reliable as it is anticipated releases. So if there is an emergency call for power etc. etc. https://waterwatch.usgs.gov/?m=real&r=mo All of this will save you wasted time and money when you figure it out, Good luck, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!"
