I use a 9 foot downrigger rod and metered braid line....but like you i dont deal with rod holders. When im by myself i have 3 rods rigged up with different crankbaits and just troll one at a time. That's the way to do it. Although I confess I sometimes set a second rod in a rod holder if I am targeting suspended fish in open water.
oghfm Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Usually run 3 rods, ten or 12 footers out each side then one straight back w/ a redirig float and an extra 25 or so feet of line to keep them separated in the turns. Works for me.

If it doesn't we reel in the other three and go back to the snagged one. The Bandits float. If the snagged one pops free just put it back in gear and let them dive. Tehmilz4 1
